“Caught Looking”, (2002)
Series of works produced during the artist-in-residence project „Dostoprimetchatjelnosti“in Berlin Hellersdorf. The post-communist landscape of industrial buildings functions as a
specific site to develop a series of portraits that employ a vast range of banalized conventions
of late capitalist imagery. The photos consist of re-makes of carefully chosen amateur shots,
fashion photos and soft-core porn images, where original characters and locations are changed
so that the visual structure can explicitly show the power relations of the hegemonic ways of
seeing.
